This is the basic figure of Supergirl in her second costume for JLU.
When the first Supergirl figure came out, many a collector complained at the ‘Polly Pocket’ look that her tiny frame seemed to sport. As time went on people began to see that a height-corrected version may not be doable, but they began requesting for the 2nd suit Supergirl costume, but this time with a better build. Mattel then gave the impression that if they were to make a new Supergirl, she would be done right- not a mere repaint of the earlier version.
And with the Aug 2009 6-pack ‘The League United’ the fan-requested Supergirl finally sees the light of day. She is built with the generic body with a cape. The cape is attached not in a way that has been done before. Teh tab at the back is more like the tab for the DCUC figures (where capes or plugs attach). the cape itself is light and flexible rubber. The skirt is a separate piece, made of the same material as the cape, that wraps around and is glued shut. Unfortunately the skirt tends to ride up her waist and when not posed right, looks rather off. Supergirl has blue briefs underneath, the edge of it can be your guide as to where to postion the skirt. It should be noted that Supergirl seems to have a thicker, more stable peg than other female figures with the same body. Her hair is made the same way as Aquaman’s a separate, harder rubber piece placed on very well.
The paint is pretty good as its mostly just primary colors, but you’ll wanna watch out where the yellow goes on. It appears on her belt and her boots. Of note is the S-shield, which is a transfer, unlike her cousins, which is sculpted on. It’s also outlined in black instead of being plainly red/yellow as with most ‘super’ figures (like the DCIH Supergirls).
As for the look, she comes very close to the model sheets and is also a convincing ‘older version’ of her previous figure, with ‘better makeup’. The paint did away with using only blue for the eyes as in the show, but instead used a lighter blue for the iris and black pupils.
